The Richmond rifled musket was produced using the machines and equipment transferred from the Harper’s Ferry arsenal to Richmond. It was based on the US 1855 Model with the Maynard primer system. Except for the lock’s profile, the brass butt plate and the stock nose cap, the gun is similar in appearance to the Model US 1861, A little over 30,000 Richmonds were produced.
