Single/Double-Action pinfire folding-trigger revolver. The barrel is octagonal and is 3.4" long. 7.5mm caliber.
The front sight is a post fixed by the muzzle. The gun has a folding trigger. The grips are two piece wood panel grips. The grips have light-moderate handling marks, nicks and scuffs. Notably, the grips have scattered patches of light discoloration. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Good condition.
Because of an issue with the mainspring, the hammer can not be manually cocked and the double-action does not engage. I have not attempted to repair this pistol. Also, the extractor is not included with the revolver. That is not too unusual. Some owners saw the extractor as a nuisance because it would hang on the holster and disposed of it, choosing to remove the spent casings with their fingers.
There is a brown leather holster included with the pistol. The holster has a custom belt loop that has been cut into its rear end. The holster has some light scuffs, nicks and handling marks. Overall, the holster is in Good condition.
The pinfire was in use for most of the 19th century and even into the 20th century. It was a popular officers' sidearm during the Civil War because of its lightness and ease of use. This example would be a nice addition to carry on an officer's belt or just to have an affordable example of what was once a very common sidearm.
