Plate is marked P. & E.W. Blake. Philo and Eli Whitney Blake were nephews of Eli Whitney and this gun was actually manufactured at the Whitney plant at New Haven, Connecticut.
This 1st contract 1822 version of the model 1816 is in very nice condition with the original flintlock configuration. There appears to be a faint inspector cartouche but it is very worn and can't be mad out. The markings on the lock and barrel are very crisp. The LS on the barrel stands for Luther Sage, an inspector at the plant.
Bore is good.
This is a good chance to invest in a firearm that will continue to appreciate in value over the years at a price that won't break the bank.
