54 Caliber smoothbore mae by the H. Aston company. Swivel steel ramrod with one end threaded for a ball extractor. The barrel exterior has been cleaned at some point which has made a shiny finish but the proof marks are no longer visible. The price reflects this. The barrel interior is in good condition considering the age of the gun.
There is an indention where the inspector cartouche was stamped on the left panel and a very faint remnant of the stamp can be seen Action is good and the mainspring is strong.
Some minor damage to the stock is visible and can be seen in the photographs.
About 30,000 of these were manufactured in total, but, this particular model was made in either 1851 or 1852. Only those years were marked "H Aston & Co" on the lock as this one is. Less that 6,000 of these guns were manufactured so there it is a bit more rare.
This would make an affordable addition to any collection of US martial arms.
